Day 1 – Coastal Monitoring Service Workshop
This workshop day focuses on the Coastal Monitoring Service and the launch of the Sargassum Monitoring Service, emphasizing service presentation, access, and hands-on exploration of marine and coastal monitoring tools.

Remote Sensing Specialist (Oceans)
Master’s candidate in Business Management and Administration from the University of Chile and Renewable Natural Resources Engineer from the same institution. He has experience in the application of applied geomatics sciences for the development of operational solutions.

Marina Hernández
Remote Sensing Specialist (Oceans)
PhD candidate in Geography from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Master in Coastal and Estuarine Management from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, and Bachelor in Marine Sciences from the University of Cádiz. Her areas of expertise are the coastal environment, change processes, and risks.

Day 2 – Land Cover, Land Use and Urban Monitoring Workshop
This workshop day focuses on urban monitoring, land cover, and land use applications developed within the CopernicusLAC Chile framework, including service presentation and hands-on exploration of territorial monitoring tools.

Remote Sensing Specialist (Land Cover and Land Use)
Remote Sensing Specialist (Land Cover and Land Use) Master in Geography of Global Change from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Germany) and Civil Engineer in Geography from the Universidad de Santiago de Chile (USACH). She also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Conflict and Development from the Open University (UK). Her areas of expertise include Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, territorial analysis, and Environmental Impact Studies. She is a member of the Association of Feminist Geographers-Chile and Women+ in Geospatial.

Francisca Gutiérrez
Remote Sensing Specialist (Urban Atlas)
Geographer and Bachelor in Geography from the University of Chile. Her areas of expertise are remote sensing, territorial analysis, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), working in the analysis of multispectral and radar satellite images with applications for the urban environment and climate change.

Day 3 – In Situ Data Workshop
This workshop day focuses on the integration of in situ data, interoperability, and regional coordination mechanisms that support Earth Observation services in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Macarena Pérez García
Executive Coordinator CopernicusLAC Chile
Geographer and Master in Human Settlements from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC). She has been a professor of Planning and Territorial Ordering at PUC for over 14 years, as well as a professor in the Diploma in Geomatics at the same university and in the Master in Disaster Management and Risk at the Army War Academy.
She has served as Outreach Director of the Institute for Disaster Resilience (ITREND) and Executive Secretary of IDE Chile. Between 2017 and 2021, she held positions in the field of Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM), serving as Rapporteur of the Committee of Experts and Vice President of the Geospatial Information Committee of the Americas (UN-GGIM Americas).

José Miguel Rubio
Copernicus In Situ Data Expert European Environment Agency (EEA)
Geodesy and Cartography Engineer (MEng). Since January 2023, he has been responsible for the cross-cutting coordination of access to the Copernicus in situ component at the European Environment Agency (EEA). He also contributes to the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (CLMS), leading the update of the CLMS hydrographic reference dataset, known as EU-Hydro.
Before joining the EEA, he worked as a Geographic Engineer at the National Geographic Institute of Spain (IGN) and as a Seconded National Expert at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG Research and Innovation), where he monitored research and innovation projects related to Earth Observation and supported the Commission team in activities within the framework of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO).
